Kilpi running clothing comparison

This article will make it easier for you to choose your running clothes. We've compared a few of our favourite running products, showcasing their technology and materials. You will now know best how to dress for a run and the best combinations of running clothes and accessories for different weather conditions. Surely you want to achieve your best performance and ensure maximum comfort. And it is with this in mind that we have written this article for you.

Spring Running / Autumn Training

During a spring or autumn run, it can be tricky to find a comfortable combination of functional clothing. We recommend combining clothes as if it were a few degrees warmer outside. When you go outside, you should feel a slight chill. In contrast, the body warms up during training and the mild cold becomes optimal thermal comfort. With the ideal combination of clothes, you won't be cold or uncomfortably warm, even during a more intense run.


Clothing Selection for Spring and Autumn Training:

Jacket selection:
A suitable jacket for spring conditions is the ANORI-M/W jacket. The ANORI-M/W ultra-lightweight anorak type jacket is designed for running and other outdoor activities. You'll appreciate the lightweight SIBERIUM material that prevents hypothermia and draughts. The jacket has a practical chest pocket with an inner pocket for valuables. The hood of the jacket has an elasticated drawstring and elasticised edging. Ventilation vents on the back ensure adequate ventilation during movement. The main advantage of this jacket is its lightness - only 90g in a size 36 and 170g in a size M.

Choosing a top:
You can always fine-tune your comfort with a functional top. For example with the Kilpi KERKEN-M/W. This is a new addition to our collection of functional tops, combining the lightweight, breathable, quick-drying OPTI-DRY material with a windproof chest panel made of dense fabric that protects against draughts and hypothermia. The clever construction of the top with a short zipper and higher collar is perfect for runners. A looser cut with short sleeves ensures freedom of movement. With the right layering, the Kilpi KERKEN-M can be used not only in spring and autumn. They will definitely not get lost in your wardrobe.

Choice of leggings:
For example, we have designed the Kilpi ALEXO-M/W running leggings not only for running. They are also suitable for cross-country skiing, fitness and other sports. Thanks to the addition of elastane, the OPTI-DRY material is highly elastic, pleasant to the touch, opaque, dries quickly and effectively helps to wick moisture to the surface of the material. The leggings do not lack highly visible reflective elements. At the waist you will find a wide elastic with a drawstring. Selection of Clothes for Summer Training:

For optimal comfort during summer training, you should choose clothing that is as lightweight and as breathable as possible and that dries quickly. We recommend looking for clothing with the OPTI DRY label in our product and material portfolio. It is this clothing that guarantees rapid drying.

Choosing a jacket:
In the summer, you rarely think about a jacket. Sometimes you have to take into account bad weather. For these cases, we recommend our ultralight Kilpi ROSA-W hooded jacket. The total weight of the jacket is 140g in a size 36 and 180g in a size M. The jacket is easy to pack into a side pocket so you can carry it with you at all times. Mesh inserts in the underarms also contribute to its light weight and are breathable. Ventilation holes on the back ensure better microcirculation. The sleeve hems and lower hem of the jacket fit perfectly thanks to a thin elastic strap.

Choosing a top:
A suitable tee for summer training should have three basic characteristics - breathability, lightness and rapid drying. Our DIMA-M/W has all these features. It is made of the above recommended OPTI-DRY material, which also has a cooling effect. A looser fit with short sleeves will not restrict your movement. For women, we can also recommend the Kilpi AMELI-W women's sports tee with short sleeves, a round neckline and a looser fit. The AMELI-W is ideal for running, but it is also suitable for other high-intensity sports. It is made of the OPTI-DRY material. Its contouring in the front emphasises the female curves. The lower hem and sleeve hems have a sealed edge, which prevents skin chafing.

Accessories:
During summer training it is definitely worth wearing sunglasses. The Kilpi ZINDY-U unisex sports sunglasses are a must. They have a sturdy, full-frame construction and spectacular polycarbonate lenses. The sides with silicone feet and the flexible silicone nose saddle adapt easily and the glasses do not slip even during vigorous activity. Clothing for Trail Running:

Let's look at one more style of running. Trail running is a form of running that is set on unpaved roads, mountain trails, and other natural terrain. When choosing suitable clothing for the trail, it is necessary to take into account the characteristics of the trail and the possible risk of minor scratches from the surrounding vegetation growing around the trail.

Top selection:
Your top should be breathable and lightweight to give you full comfort during your trail run. As you plan to run in warmer conditions, we recommend tops with good moisture-wicking properties. It's the only way to stay dry and not get cold when you run into the shade of the forest. An ideal example of a functional top for trail running is our Kilpi WYLDER-M/W. It's made of OPTI-DRY material and weighs just 79g in a size M.

Choice of pants:
The type of terrain you will be running in plays a major role when choosing running pants. As this is very challenging terrain with a lot of obstacles, we recommend pants that can withstand anything and won't wear out quickly. Once the weather is warmer and the terrain is not too rugged, so the risk of injury is not high, you may want to consider shorter pants. In our range you will find, for example, the GEARS-M leggings, which have a practical pocket at the back of the waist. It can hold small things, but also a quick snack to replenish energy.

Jacket selection:
If you plan to disregard the weather and run in the rain or in cold weather, consider a jacket with a high wind and water resistance. Not having to worry about weather conditions when trail running is always an advantage. When selecting, give preference to jackets with active ventilation or ventilation zips that allow you to regulate your thermal comfort. Resistant jackets do not have high breathability on their own.
