Taking care of Kilpi products

General Garment Care

Always follow the information on the label. You can wash the products in the washing machine at the temperature indicated on the garment label and using a shortened wash program. Do not use fabric softeners on functional garments, do not soak before washing. Garments can be ironed in compliance with the indicated temperature symbol. After repeated washing, you can restore water repellence by applying one of the recommended treatment agents.

Handwashing Garments

If we prepare a solution for handwashing, perfect dissolution of the detergent is never guaranteed. It also happens that the often a customer pours water into the bathtub, puts the laundry in it and pours washing powder on top. It is clear that this will damage the colour of the fabric and create problems thus customers trying to get a refund or exchange on the garment purchased. However, this does not mean that handwashing is not permitted. When applying special liquid detergents, where the manufacturer recommends handwashing, no problems should occur if the instructions are followed.

Be careful not to use fabric softener. Fabric softeners disrupt the water-repellent finish of the fabric. Fabric softener must not be used on garments with permeability, breathability and wind resistance functions, therefore technical materials.

Membrane Clothing Care

We recommend washing in a special detergent, e.g., TECH WASH by Nikwax. Always follow the procedure specified by the detergent manufacturer.

Garment Treatment Maintenance

It is advisable to treat any garment if water begins to soak into the surface of the fabric even in very light rain. It is advisable to redo the treatment after five washes.

Care of Knitted Materials

Wash the garment with the same colours in the usual amount of powder and a gentle wash program followed by a gentle spin cycle. Do not soak the garment before washing. Wash inside out and with the zipper closed. After washing, shape pants, sleeves or back) while the garment is wet (to prevent shrinkage), loosely hang and let it dry. Always dry inside out and never in direct sunlight. Do not leave the garment to soak before or after washing. Make sure that it is loosely hung and dries evenly immediately after washing. Maximum shrinkage 3-5%.

Care of Woven Materials

Wash the garment separately. Put the usual amount of powder in the washing machine and set a gentle wash program followed by a gentle spin cycle. Do not use fabric softener, as this will damage the function of the material. Do not soak the garment before washing. After washing and brief spin, immediately place the garment freely, for example, over a heater or other source of mild constant heat, and allow it to dry evenly (do not place directly on the heater). Avoid drying in the sun. Do not leave the garment to soak before or after washing. Make sure that it is loosely hung and dries evenly immediately after washing.
